Yacht Charter - Mallorca - Cala BlavaCruising area & Coastline

The Balearic Islands are definitely one of the most popular Yacht Charters areas in the world and the biggest yachting region of Spain.

Consisting of the three main islands Majorca (Mallorca), Menorca and Ibiza and some small islets with paradise qualities such as Cabrera and Formentera, this group of islands offers great Mediterranean coastline inclduing fine sandy bays, long beaches, high rocky coasts, caves, fjords and perfect diving spots. There are numerous cosy sea villages, which have preserved their roots and character despite of the modern lifestyle.

The Balearic Islands are situated about 100 sm away from the Spanish coast and are ideal for Yacht Charters crews, who are looking for adventures and maritime holidays in the Mediterranean ambience. Those who wish to retreat and relax can do this in the low season on Majorca, Ibiza or sleepy Menorca in the quite turquoise bays, called „Calas“, without being afraid of meeting a neighbour from home at the next opportunity.

All in all, this Yacht Charters area combines everything a charter crew needs for a perfect Yacht Charters cruise.

We will describe some great spots for cruises around the Balearic Islands below in the secion “Highlights” as well as in the separate articles under “Countries/Spain”.

Weather & Winds

The absolute high season with high summer temperatures lasts from June till August. April, May, September and October can also be a good time for Yacht Charters holidays, although the propability of rain is a bit higher in these months. The wind is mostly moderate and storms are seldom. In the late August and September, however, you should be aware of the thunderstorms.

Yacht Charter - Mallorca - PalmaHighlights

One sailing week is enough to sail round one of the islands as well as to make an excursion to the neighbouring island. Apart from the steep and mountainous western coast of Majorca, where there is just one safe port (Puerto de Soller), you will find good and even luxurious marinas everywhere along the coasts of the islands. Although your boat will lie quite safely in the deeply cut Calas during the day, spending a night there can be spoilt by an unpleasant swell. Therefore, we recommend mooring at one of the numerous harbours along the southern and eastern coasts: apart protection for the boat, they offer you a good opportunity to taste local or international cuisine in the restaurants and bars ashore.

Starting a cruise from Palma, Yacht Charters crews can sail along the southern coast of the island to the easternmost point Cabo Ses Salines. On the way, there are a number of picturesque spots, such as Cala Blava or the famous long sand beach Es Trenc.

The small island Cabrera to the south-east from Majorca is worth visiting, too. Especially if you are interested in diving activities. The island is a nature reserve and you will need an entrance permit. Applications for Cabrera permit can be submitted to Morecruise up to one week before the charter begin.

Yacht Charter - Mallorca - Porto ColomApart of the big tourist centres, there are many picturesque harbours and fisher towns to visit on Majorca. Just to name some of them we recommend visiting Cala Figuera, Porto Petro or Porto Colom on the eastern coast of the island. If you start sailing from Porto Colom, you will have a good opportunity to visit Menorca during your Yacht Charters week.

Those who feel attracted by the famous nightlife and lifystyle of Ibiza, we also recommend the island Formentera, which is famous for its beautiful sand beaches and superb water quality. Formentera is parted from Ibiza only by a narrow canal.

How to get there

Palma de Majorca is probably the best connected island airport in Europe. There are countless regular and charter flights from almost all European airports operated by many airlines, including low-price airlines.
